Volunteer Recruitment Procedure & Policy.

Wicklow Town A.F.C
Founded in 1939, Finlay Park, Wicklow Town

Wicklow Town AFC would not exist without volunteers giving their time and effort.

It is therefore the club’s responsibility to ensure that all volunteers are provided a safe environment along with all the members.

The following steps have been created to provide a safe and positive environment to work and learn;

Role Descriptions

The club will provide a clear role description to include Main Duties/Responsibilities, Qualifications,

Attributes Required, Skills Required and an estimated time commitment.

Interview

All volunteers will go through an informal meeting with committee members. The purpose of this is to identify the volunteer’s ability to carry out the role as described

Reference

Where possible, volunteers will be asked to provide references from previous clubs.

Garda Vetting & Safeguarding

In line with legislation and the clubs SafeGuarding Policy everyone volunteering at the club (or those from outside the club providing a service) will require Garda Vetting and attend a Safeguarding 1 course while carrying out their role. This is the responsibility of the volunteers and can be completed online, with the support of the club child welfare officer.

Induction

All new volunteers will be provided a brief induction on the club and its facilities.

Qualifications

To ensuring that children and young persons can participate in all football activities in a safe environment, it is required that all coaches complete Garda vetting and FAI safeguarding courses. No exceptions.

As part of our Club Development Plan, we are mandating that all teams have at least 1 coach complete the FAI PDP Level 1 course in year 1, and PDP 2 by their second year coaching. This is to provide a framework for coaching excellence throughout the club.

On Going Development

All volunteers can choose to complete ongoing development courses if they wish to do so.

Support

Wicklow Town AFC will support all volunteers and will hold regular meetings where requested with them to discuss any problems or issues that may arise.

Volunteers

All volunteers will adhere to the club rules/constitution and the FAI’s rules and code of conducts.
